Mark Rogers began his career in 1985 as a teacher (having qualified to teach pupils with Special Educational Needs), subsequently working in a range of special schools in the Midlands and North West and becoming a head teacher in 1994.
In 2001, Mark became the Head of SEN Services in Tameside, working on the Authority's first inclusion strategy.
Mark was appointed as Assistant Director, Inclusive Communities - Children & Young People, for Stockport Council in 2003, where in due course he became responsible for the Council's "Every Child Matters - Change for Children" transformation programme. During this period, Mark was part of the team that contributed to Stockport's rating as a 4 Star Council following its 2005 Corporate Assessment.

In March 2006, Mark joined Solihull Council's Corporate Management Team, where he took up the post of Corporate Director, Education & Children's Services. This role provided the unmissable opportunity to take forward the Council's trailblazing work as a Children's Trust Pathfinder and develop a fully fledged Children and Young People's Trust. As well as being the Council's Statutory Director for Children's Services, Mark chairs the Local Safeguarding Children's Board.
Mark, first as Acting and now as permanent Chief Executive, has had the pleasure of leading the Council through two major inspections in 2008, as well as introducing Shaping Solihull, a new transformation programme that is putting communities, partnerships and innovation at the heart of the drive for further improvement and efficiency.
