Ruth Martin

Ruth Martin developed her interest in education business partnerships during 18 years of teaching in some of the most demanding schools in Birmingham and Solihull.

Constantly moving with the changing curriculum, Ruth progressed through a number of roles at department, faculty and whole school level, contributing to the development of Business, ICT and Control Technology agendas while broadening her experience in PR, Marketing and education-business links.

The education business links work was recognised by Land Rover through an appointment to manage the flagship Education Partnership Centre at Solihull.  A few years later Ruth is Young People Development Manager for Jaguar and Solihull, a secondary role to her prime responsibility as Land Rover Corporate Citizenship Manager.

Ruth developed this role for six years and was regarded as the interface between the Company, the Community and Employees.  Working closely with all levels of the Company, Ruth developed the fundamental principle that the Company should support the Community through activities that provide Employees with personal development opportunities.

During the last three years, Ruth has developed a national educational challenge aimed at supporting young people who are studying Design and Technology or Engineering at examination level.  TrackNAVCHALLENGE has become recognised as a quality practical project that enables young people to develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to be successful in examinations at GCSE and Diploma Level.

Ruth's work has attracted local and national recognition from industry, Education, Community organisations, the DFES and CBI.
