Innovation - Thinking Outside the Box

To innovate is to invent or begin to apply new ideas, and BXL has consistently done this over the past few years. We have proven that we can create and deliver programmes and initiatives that add value to commissioners by improving the working opportunities for young people and adults in the midlands region.

Connected thinking
Everyday, through the activities we run, we bring together employers and educators and this gives us a unique perspective on the education, labour and social challenges faced by the region. We use this information to connect our thinking and to create programmes that are addressing the real requirements of the people we meet everyday.

Outside the box
The BIG IDEA is a good example of our ability to think outside the box. Our proposal to create community employability centres across the city of Birmingham, is gathering pace and is now supported by many of the regions leading employers and educators. From the concept stage, we have developed this idea, created strategic partnerships to support it and built the model to deliver it. This is testament to our ability to create innovative solutions to real problems.

Secondary School
Holistic approach
We believe in looking beyond the obvious issues and we aim to address the root of the problems and our Improving Chances programme shows our ability to do this. We believed there was a requirement to address multi-generational unemployment. Through a tailored programme of self-awareness, confidence building and practical guidance on finding a job, we are helping families, from young children to grandparents, to work together to break the cycle of unemployment and to raise their aspirations as a family unit.

Filling the gaps

With the day-to-day involvement we have in the region, we know where the gaps are and we have the capability and the creativity to develop the solutions to fill them. We always welcome the opportunity to talk to commissioners to share our experiences and ideas of how we can all make this region a better one in which to llve, learn and work in.
