Success - Changing Lives with Contract Wins

Everyone’s measurement of success is different and we rate ours on the difference we make to people’s lives through the contracts that we are commissioned to deliver.

Proven track record

We have successfully delivered all the contracts we have been awarded and we have never failed.

We have listed below some of our most recent projects and their outcomes:

Introducing pupils to the world of work...

Working with Schools

In 2009 we were awarded funding by Birmingham City Council and Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to deliver work related learning and work experience programmes to 14 -19 year olds in the region. Through an open and competitive tendering process, we proposed programmes that were developed to incorporate the feedback and ideas that we have received from educators and employers, and we mapped these programmes to curriculum priorities to ensure tangible outcomes and benefits. Being awarded this funding is testament to the fact that our services are highly valued in the region.

Our programmes in school, March 2010 - March 2011, supported 29,000 students at 300 work related learning events in 77 schools and supported by approximately 3,000 employees.

Changing lives...

Working with Young people not in education, employment or training

In 2008, we began working on the Elev8 programme, an ESF programme, commissioned by the Skills Funding Agency. With this programme we engaged young people who were NEET (not in education, employment or training) aged 16 -18 (up to 25 for LDD) and to support them into education, employment, self-employment or training.

Working alongside designated learning providers, we provided these young people, many of whom come from the hardest to reach groups, with bespoke courses. With support from us throughout the process of getting into full-time education, employment or training.

The programme has been a great success and we almost fully achieved our targets. We supported 561 young people, 71% of which successfully completed their bespoke courses and 66% of the young people we have worked with on the programme progressed into either full-time education, training or employment.

Funded by the Youth Offending Service and delivered at Birmingham Wheels we ran a ten day practical programme in motor mechanics followed by five days of work experience, supported throughout by our outreach worker.  Referred by YOS, all the young people successfully completed the programme; One young person was kept on for an extra couple of weeks of paid work as he had proved himself to be a hard worker. Another was interviewed immediately afterwards for a permanent position.

Up-skilling the community...

Working with individuals to increase employability

Funded by Birmingham City Council, via the Working Neighbourhood Innovation Fund, our Improving Chances Programme supported families and individuals to break down the barriers to employment. This programme operated in the south of the city and offered employability skills by providing a range of free courses, employability support, work experience and support from an outreach worker. We successfully supported 70+ clients of which 60% gained an accreditation.

Our Impact Programme also funded by Birmingham City Council, via the Working Neighbourhood Fund, supported unemployed individuals in the Ladywood Constituency. This short 5 month programme offered both practical and accredited courses to help individuals break down the barriers to employment, with work experience being a key element. We successfully completed this project which supported 48 hard to reach individuals, including Somali refugees. 35% of the clients benefitted from work experience and 16% went onto Employment, Further Education or gained a volunteering role and nearly half of all the beneficiaries gained an accredited qualification.

Helping you to be successful

When we are successful in delivering programmes and contracts, our commissioners are also successful in achieving their objectives. We always welcome the opportunity to discuss opportunities with commissioners to create a winning formula for everyone involved in the programme.
