BXL Land Rover Partnership Centre

The BXL Land Rover Partnership Centre provides educational visits for schools, colleges and universities. It is available to and used by establishments across the UK and Europe.

A typical visit

A typical visit starts with a safety presentation followed by a video detailing the history and product range of Land Rover. The tour of the factory lasts an hour and half and then, if selected, students take part in a supporting curriculum activity. There are a number of activities available to support a variety of curriculum areas.  We can also arrange for guest speakers from Land Rover to come and talk on a particular subject of interest.

Factory tour

The tour covers the press shop, body-in-white build, trim & final stage and car dispatch with an explanation of right-first-time, just-in-time and lean working to show how a modern manufacturing facility operates. Our guides can focus on any aspects relevant to the subject area.

Curriculum Support

This comprises teaching modules on a variety of topics covering Business Studies (GCSE, A-level and Diplomas), Marketing, Applied Mathematics (Secondary), Applied Science (GCSE), Design Technology (GCSE & A-Level), Materials (Secondary and A-levels), ICT (GCSE, A-level and Diplomas), Computer Control (Secondary), Engineering (Diplomas), Manufacturing and Product Design (Diplomas) Work–Related Learning, Geography and the Environment.

Activities

These are done in teams and they involve teamwork, communication or problem solving exercises, simulated production line challenges, or individually operating a robot arm or traffic lights.

The Land Rover Driving Experience

All bookings made through the Land Rover Partnership Centre can receive significantly reduced rates on the Land Rover Driving Experience which is based on site. The Driving Experience gives students and teachers the opportunity to experience first hand the true capabilities of Land Rover Vehicles on the off road track. This is a really worthwhile and exciting addition to any educational visit. Current prices at as Oct 2009: £50 per hour for up to two hours (five students and one teacher per half hour so could accommodate 20 students for £100) or if over two hours must hire a driver for the day for £250 and accommodate around 40 students.
